Create & Share Routines

Gym routines are workout templates you can create from scratch, copy from a completed workout (yours or that of another user), or import from the library into your Hevy profile.

Routines allow you to start workouts with all the necessary training details instead of creating each session from scratch.

Once you save a routine to your profile, navigate to the Workout tab, tap the three dots, and select Share Routine.

This allows you to select an external platform to share your routine (for instance, to send it to a friend on WhatsApp or Messenger) or generate a link you can paste anywhere. People who click the link will be taken to hevy.com (here’s an example), where they can see the routine and save it to their profile.

Create & Share Folders

You can store your routines together or create folders to organize them. For instance, you can create folders for training programs or splits like 5×5 or push/pull/legs. To create a folder, navigate to Workout and tap the folder icon below + Start Empty Workout.

Once you have a folder, tap the three dots to share it.

You can share it on a different platform (similar to routines), generate a link to post anywhere (here’s an example), or save the folder as an image.

Here’s what a folder looks like when saved as an image:

This allows you to create a training plan as a single folder and share the image with others. Our subreddit has many posts of people sharing their training plans and asking for feedback.

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

A routine is a workout template you can reuse unlimited times to start new workouts with all the training details. To use a routine, navigate to the Workout tab, find the one you want to use, and tap Start Routine to begin a new live session.
A folder is simply a way for you to organize your routines, such as by grouping them by training programs (e.g., 5×5), splits (e.g., push/pull/legs), or goals (e.g., fat loss).
Yes. You can generate unique links to hevy.com for your routines and folders and images for your folders. Post the links and images outside Hevy to get feedback from others and make it easier for them to save the folders and routines in their profiles.
It shows all the individual workouts (routines) in the folder, each with a summary: the workouts’ names, a list of exercises with images, and the number of sets and reps or target duration per movement.
Tap the three dots next to a routine or folder, select Share Folder/Share Routine, and tap ‘Copy Link’ or ‘Copy.’ You can paste the link outside Hevy––for example, in a group chat with your gym buddies or on Reddit.
