How to Upload Gym Selfies and Training Videos

Once you have logged a workout in Hevy, you can upload three images or two images and one video before saving the session to your profile. (You can read more about saving workouts and all the available options here.)

To upload media, log a live session (with the stopwatch on the top left tracking the duration) and tap the blue Finish button on the top right.

Then, tap the icon or Add a photo / video text. You will be prompted to select media from your library or take a photo.

You can tap on any photo or video to delete it from the workout:

Also, tap and drag to rearrange the media you’ve uploaded. This will change the order in which the photos appear for the workout when displayed in the content feed.

You can also write a description of your session below. This can serve as a future reference when tracking your progress or to update your followers on how your training has been going. Here’s an example of a Hevy user’s description for one of their workouts:

Once finished, tap the blue Save button at the top right to store the session and media in your Hevy profile.

It’s worth noting that you don’t necessarily have to upload gym selfies. For instance, you can upload a screenshot with cardio data, a snapshot of a song you’re listening to, or even a funny meme.

Who Can See the Images and Videos I Upload?

Everyone can see the videos and images you upload if you have a public profile. However, only people you’ve allowed to follow you can see your media if your profile is private.

To set your profile to private, navigate to:

Profile tab > gear settings icon on the top right > Privacy & Social under Preferences > toggle turn on Private Profile

How to See Other Users’ Uploaded Media

The Home tab shows updates from the athletes and gym-goers you follow. You can freely scroll through users’ media and tap on any workout to see all the details.

You can also open any athlete’s profile (so long as it’s not private) and see their uploaded media at the top. Scroll through their videos and images and tap on any of them to open the corresponding workout.

Additionally, you can tap Discover in the Home tab to see workouts along with photos and videos from users you don’t follow:

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

You can upload three photos or two photos and one video.
No. Sharing gym selfies and training footage is entirely optional, and you don’t need to upload anything if you don’t want to or don’t feel comfortable.
If you have a public profile, everyone can see your media. However, having a private profile means only people you’ve allowed to follow you can see your photos and training footage.
No problem. Navigate to the specific workout (scroll through your workouts in the Profile tab or use the calendar to find a session from a particular date), tap the three dots, select ‘Edit Workout,’ tap on any video or image, and select ‘Remove.’
No. Progress photos, which you upload by navigating to Profile > Measures, are private and only accessible to you and your coach (if you’re working with one through Hevy Coach). They differ from the media you can upload before saving a workout to your profile.
