How to Upload Progress Photos to Hevy

Navigate to the Profile tab and tap the grey Measures button. Tap the + icon on the top right to record a new entry. Select Add Picture near the top to take a photo or upload an existing one from your library.

Once you add a photo, you can log additional information like your body weight, body fat, and circumference measurements or leave the other fields empty.

Tap Save on the top right. Your progress photos will appear at the top.

Select See All at the top right to browse your progress photo library. Each photo will be displayed along with the date you uploaded it.

Tap on any photo to reveal additional options, such as to position it side-by-side with another photo in your library.

Below, you can also tap Share to generate a shareable image for social media or elsewhere outside Hevy.

You can also tap the three dots on the top right to edit the progress photo (or replace it) and the entry it’s part of. This lets you update other details like weight, body fat percentage, and circumferences. You can also delete the photo.

How to Take Progress Photos

  • Take progress photos of your front, side, and back
  • You can be relaxed or flexed but use the same poses each time
  • Place your phone on a desk, chair, or stand, ideally at torso level; no selfies
  • Take your photos in the same conditions each time (time of day, the camera you use, the lighting, and the angle)
  • Take photos yourself; don’t depend on another person

How Often to Take Progress Photos

You can experiment with the frequency, but we recommend taking a set of photos every four to five weeks. Visual changes are often too small and go unnoticed when taking weekly or bi-weekly photos.

WORK OUT. TRACK PROGRESS. SOCIALIZE.

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

No. Even if your profile is public, progress photos are private to track visual improvements over time. The only media visible to others are the videos and images you upload alongside workouts before saving them to your profile.
Yes. Open any progress photo you’ve uploaded and tap the three dots on the top right to reveal a menu with an option to delete it.
Only if the entry includes the progress photo with no other information. However, suppose you upload a photo along with body weight or other metrics and later delete it. In that case, the measurements remain in your profile, and you can access them by navigating to Profile > Measures.
As of now, you can upload one progress photo per day, along with other information like your body weight, body fat, and circumference measurements.
The most practical solution is to upload a photo per entry for three days in a row––for example, photo one on Dec 10, photo two on Dec 11, and photo three on Dec 12. Do that consistently, and you will know that each set of photos is taken in a single day.
