Hevy Workout Log: How to Save a Workout
Start a new session (be it by using a saved routine as the template, starting an empty workout, or copying a recent workout from the Profile tab), do the workout as outlined (it could be as little as one activity and one set), and tap Finish on the top right.

This action takes you to the next window where you can access additional options before saving the session to your profile:
Available Options When Saving a Session
- Change the session’s name – write a new name for the session or modify the existing one if you want.
- See and edit the duration – you can tap and change it.

- See volume and the number of sets – next to duration, you can see the number of sets you’ve done and the volume load.
- See and edit the date and time – choose a different start date and time to log a workout you’ve completed before.

- Upload video and images – tap the ‘Add a photo / video’ text or the icon on the left to take a photo or upload photos and videos from your library.
- Write a description – write a note with feedback, observations, or even an update for people who follow you on Hevy. You can also tag people by adding @ and writing the person’s name.

- Change the session’s visibility – decide if you want that specific session to be publicly available to all users (or your followers, in case you have a private profile) or private (only visible to you).
- Sync – if you have any active integrations, you can select where the workout appears (for example, in Apple Health and Strava).

If you’ve used a routine (reusable workout template) and have made changes, such as adding or removing exercises or sets, the app asks if you want to update the original routine. Accepting this applies the changes to the routine; declining keeps the original routine the same for future use.

Additional Options and Information
Once you complete and save a workout, you’re taken to a new window where you can see the ordinal number of the workout, your active streak (only for the first workout of the week), and options to share the session on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter (or X), or copy the link and post is elsewhere.

Multiple slides in the middle display useful and motivating information like:
- New personal records (if any)
- Your workout consistency in the last seven days
- An overview of the workout (duration, number of exercises, sets, and volume)
- An overview of the exercises, number of sets for each, and a workout muscle diagram

There’s also a neat comparison based on your volume load. For example, “You lifted a total of 6,615 kg. That’s like lifting an elephant!” It’s a nice touch that puts your efforts into perspective.

Creating Routines From Workouts
Once you save a workout, navigate to the Profile tab and scroll down to see it, along with all your other completed sessions. Tap the three dots next to any workout and select Save as Routine.

Edit any of the training details, change the name if you want, and store it in your library. You can find the routine in the Workout tab and reuse it unlimited times.
