What it is

As its name suggests, the live personal record notification (or live PR) instantly lets you know when you’ve achieved a new best 1RM, heaviest weight lifted for multiple reps, set volume, most reps, or duration.

Enable it by navigating to the workout settings:

Profile tab > gear icon (top right) > Workouts (under Preferences) > Live Personal Record Notification > enable via the toggle button

How it Works

Our live PR feature is designed to be intuitive, so you don’t need to do anything beyond training hard and logging your sets as you do them.

When you exceed a previous best performance and mark a set as complete, you’re presented with a banner, and your new PR is saved for the workout. You can later examine individual workouts and see your past PRs.

WORK OUT. TRACK PROGRESS. SOCIALIZE.

Whether you’re a regular person, competitive bodybuilder, or athlete, Hevy allows you to log sessions, track progress, and socialize.

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

The app didn’t record a PR and notify you during the workout because there wasn’t a previous performance value to compare it to.
Chances are, it wasn’t a new PR, and you probably had a previous performance that was equally as good or better but have forgotten about it. It’s also possible you haven’t enabled the feature in the settings. Navigate to your profile tab, settings (gear icon), and Workouts. Scroll to the bottom to see if Live Personal Record Notification is enabled.
You can get a live PR for a new heaviest weight lifted for reps, a 1RM, a best-set volume (volume load; sets * reps * weight), the most reps, and a new best duration (for movements like the plank).
One option is to navigate to the Profile tab and scroll down to examine your recent workouts and personal best performances. You can also tap the grey Exercises button to open the library, where you can find individual exercises and see your best performances.
You can disable the feature by navigating to the workout settings and using the toggle switch to turn off Live Personal Record Notification.
