How to Add and Remove Sets

Once you’ve added an exercise to a routine (reusable workout template) or live workout you are logging (with the stopwatch active at the top left), you can tap the grey + Add Set button as many times as needed to add one or more sets.

To remove a set, swipe left on a set to reveal the red Delete button. Alternatively, click on the number of the set in the SET column on the left and tap Remove Set. This menu also lets you change the set type.

How to Write Sets and Reps

Hevy allows you to write load and rep (or rep range) or duration targets for each set you’ve added to an exercise. Under KG or LBS (depending on your preference in the settings), you can write a weight target for each set.

Next to it, you can write repetition targets for each set under REPS. Tap the REPS text to switch between repetitions and rep ranges. Selecting Rep Range allows you to choose two values––for instance, 8 to 12 reps.

Duration-based activities like planks come with a single TIME column, where you can write a duration target for each set.

How to Enable RPE?

Selecting a rate of perceived exertion (RPE) value for each set is only available while logging a live session but not while creating a routine.

When enabled in the settings (Profile tab > Settings gear icon on the top right > Workouts > RPE Tracking enable via the toggle switch), an RPE column appears on the right next to the REPS column.

Best workout tracking app

This is by far my favorite workout tracking app. You can tell that the creators work out themselves because they know how important it is to be able to label drop sets, failure sets, supersets, etc. It allows me to track everything I need. When if it’s been a while since I did an exercise I can easily take a look at my history.

Kept Me Accountable

I have been using this app since January. I love it. It’s the thing that had kept me in the gym this year because it helps me see results. I love how it syncs with my watch and I can input the weight and reps on my watch or phone. I appreciate that it supplies workouts for different splits so I don’t need to pay for a trainer. I love how it holds the last rep and weight from the previous time I did the exercise.

Really helpful illustrations

My focus now is on building functional strength to avoid injuries as I age. Coming back to lifting as an adult with moderate gym anxiety, the Hevy app has helped me track progress on my weights and allowed me to make intelligent choices about increasing the amount I’m lifting. I really appreciate the illustrations and animations that help me learn new movements.

Yes, you can freely add or remove sets while logging a workout based on how you feel that day and how much time you have to train. Tap the + Add Set button at the bottom of each exercise or swipe left on any set to reveal the Delete button.
No. You can add as many sets as you want to every exercise in a workout.
Unlike a strict rep target (e.g., 8), a range means your goal falls between two rep targets––for example, 8 to 12. This allows for more flexibility during training. Tap the REPS text while building a routine to open a window and switch to Rep Ranges.
Yes, Hevy allows you to set unique load, rep (or range), and duration targets for each set of exercises. You can input an RPE value for each set to track your effort more accurately when logging a workout, so long as you enable RPE tracking in Hevy’s settings.
Tap the set number in the SET column to reveal a menu with options to mark the set as warm-up, to failure, drop set, or normal.
